oh the heat!

5.27.2012

i mean, is it just crazy hot for you?? because it feels like late-august summer weather. living up in the attic has its perks, but hot mornings with the sun rising can make me a little hot and cranky. this illustration by sophia foster-dimino really sums up how i’m feeling right now, and yesterday especially. i hope you enjoy your long weekend! i know i will! glaze kiln is getting fired tonight and then its smooth sailing! happy sunday to you!

feeling lucky

5.25.2012

i just unloaded my final bisque kiln for the indie craft fair in prairie village! with all of the love and support i’ve been getting from friends and family with this whole endeavor, i’m feeling so blessed and so very lucky to be doing what i’m doing. this weekend my sister christy and i are glazing all night long. she really is the best! she came in town just to help me get these pieces waxed, glazed and fired. i’m grinning from ear to ear and i never thought i’d be so relaxed at this point in the game, but i’ve been productive, i’ve locked myself in that studio to get all of this done and now i can start savoring the rewards . . . at least i can on monday.

happy thursday

5.24.2012

i’m in weekend mode, and its only thursday! the boyfriend is out of town, my sister abbey moves to washington, d.c. on saturday, and all i have left for the fair is glazing this weekend! for some reason i just feel like celebrating! (not that i’m happy about luke being gone, or abbey moving)

there is just something so great about the summer. something that just makes me want to spend extra time on my bike and extra time drinking on patios. nothing beats it!

i hope your summer is off to a good start. its supposed to be a HOT memorial day weekend here, but i’m sayin’ bring it on!!!

sneak peek at the photo shoot from tuesday. I TOLD YOU SHE’S THE BEST!

today was great!

5.22.2012

my friend kaley can do wonders with her camera. i love getting together with this girl. besides being friends and enjoying the time i spend with her, i really connect with her in a creative way. so many times today we each had the exact same idea for shot ideas. its nice to be in sync with someone on such an artistic level! she’s helping me keep up with new and interesting photos for this very blog. i’m so lucky to have her! things have been so busy getting ready for the fair, it was so nice to have an afternoon out of the studio doing something creative to benefit everything else i’m working towards.

there she is workin’ her magic! book her, book her, book her!

oh by the way . . . the object enthusiast just got herself a little facebook page. (actually, i’ve had it for a little while, but i’m just now getting to telling you about it!) why don’t-cha head on over and like it? : ) happy tuesday evening to you!

coveted ceramics on etsy

5.21.2012

about a month ago i was asked to be a guest blogger over on the etsy blog. i was beyond thrilled! i could barely contain my excitement, and i must tell you it was so hard not to blog about all of these wonderful ceramic pieces i was researching for my post. etsy truly has some amazing artists, and buying something handmade feels wonderful. check out the guest post right over here, and maybe pick out something for yourself  from the ceramic artists i featured!

out of control

5.20.2012

this dust situation . . .

but its all going to be worth it come june 2nd!

picture is from my instagram! are you following the object enthusiast

lately . . .

5.19.2012

things have been really exciting and stressful lately. all of it is mostly exciting, but it has been busy, and crazy and with that comes the stress. i spend mornings before work in the studio, then evenings after work in the studio. my entire day is covered in clay dust. its all over me! all i’ve been wanting to do lately is wear my summer dresses and a cute pair of sandals, but this busy time in the studio just isn’t going to allow my girly side to come out.

but when its time, i’d like to do some of my shopping at the fashionloft on etsy. such gorgeous clothes, and all very nicely priced!

little big news!

5.18.2012

today i received my square credit card reader! not only that, but the object enthusiast is now accepting credit cards directly through etsy! it is the coolest big thing to happen to my little shop and my little business!

i’m so thrilled to be able to accept credit cards at the indie swing craft fair.  i think it really opens up the chance for someone without cash (or someone who spent all their cash!) to purchase something, and to use a credit card.

its a tiny little thing, and it plugs right into my iphone! if you are someone selling goods, i highly recommend getting this little guy. i can’t wait to give it a whirl!

you’re invited

5.16.2012

sounds incredible, right? let’s just slow things down a little bit. i’m ready to enjoy some long, summer days, and this artwork by nathaniel russell inspires me to do just that. so many prints in that online shop are catching my eye . . .

one deadline down, one to go

5.15.2012

i have been so stressed out about meeting upcoming deadlines that i’ve hardly taken the time to recognize and appreciate may. spring and summer are my favorite seasons each year, and being this busy has made it harder to slow down and enjoy things a bit. but tonight i just submitted my first guest post on a really cool blog (that i’ve been working on for over a month now!), so my major deadlines have just been reduced by 50%. i love getting to work on these amazing opportunities, but a little bit of rest and relaxation sure sounds nice.  june is going to be a great month!

but, great news . . . ksu and some of my friends have made my glazing life a little bit easier. they let me buy some bulk materials off of them and mix an 8,000 gram batch of white glaze! hallelujah, my days are a little bit better now!
