there are some magnificent people on etsy. it seems as though i find another shop that completely wows me every other day! today’s shop is ‘you sentimental idiot’ a project by rikkianne van kirk, inspired by found materials that hold a story and a past. often using vintage diary pages, she applies a simple sharpie drawing, something that she imagines the writer might have seen. here are some of my favorites:

for one night only, the orangerie at the palace of versailles turns into an open-sky, fanciful ballroom and an extravagant marie antoinette-inspired masked ball. everyone dresses up, and masks are required, and there is even a section reserved for the night’s aristocrats (or those who have the special “casanova” wristbands).
i have always had a special place in my heart for marie antoinette, and the 2006 movie by sofia coppola took my breath away. so you can see why i would love to grab my best girlfriends and head for the carnaval! these pictures, from the cherry blossom girl capture the evening perfectly, and i really want to attend this party.
the party starts at midnight and they stay up and watch the sunrise. just the idea of seeing the sunrise at the palace makes my heart skip a beat . . .

i am stocking up on some new paper goods for making stationary, business cards, goodie bags, notes and more! i’m getting really excited about this new little project. i found a great little paper and supply store on etsy called inkkit. lots of stickers, paper baggies, twine – - a crafter’s heaven!
its actually called the fishscales tumbler, but i instantly thought of a mermaid, which of course made me think of my friend samantha. chandra debuse made this gorgeous tumbler and you can buy it from mudfire, right over here!
rainy days always cause me to crave the same things. sipping lots of tea, meandering through the streets of paris, cuddling in bed with books, carrot ginger soup . . . you get the idea. i hope you have the chance to indulge just a little bit today!
pom pom photo frames . . . perhaps a diy for the near future! i think i like it . . .
