how perfect is this? cloud in a room by berndnaut smilde, a real cloud captured in a room by carefully regulating the temperature and the humidity levels, making sure the conditions are just perfect. then, with the burst of a fog machine, he creates this perfect little cloud.

siiiiigghhh . . . .

shino takeda

4.30.2012

i’m head over heels for these tea cups by brooklyn-based, japanese artist, shino takeda. another example of cups i want to have lined up in my kitchen cupboards. siiigh . . .

i love the perfectly imperfect rims, the simple and earthy glazes, and there is just something so satisfying about using handmade objects everyday.

morel hunting

rainy sunday

4.29.2012

happy weekend to me! sundays are my one day each week to do exactly what i want. today is a little wet, but we’re goin out anyway for the love of photography. the priddy’s are having family portraits today. in the rain. but i have complete faith in kaley . . .

and with a new countdown on my phone, i have exactly 32 days, 20 hours, 53 minutes and 12 seconds to complete all of these pots for the craft fair in june. oooh boy . . . i better spend the second half of my day in that studio!

so tell me, what are you doing on this rainy sunday? hopefully yours is a sunny sunday . . .

lawman

4.26.2012

lawman is the latest show by my sculptor-boyfriend, luke severson. it was only up in the ikeda gallery for 4 days! i didn’t even get to see it!

but luke snapped some great pictures from that tiny gallery space. here are my favorites:

cécile daladier

4.25.2012

cécile daladier’s ceramic pieces are stunning. the perfect vessels for tiny flowers and stems she finds throughout the streets of paris. (a dream come true in my opinion. how glamorous!) a ceramic artist, botanist, and piano instructor,  daladier finds the flowers growing through the cracks of sidewalks and alleyways and brings them home to sit comfortably in these handmade vases. those lucky little buds . . .

all images found on cécile daladier’s website.

sometimes

4.24.2012

sometimes i see something so beautiful that i must pull the car over and snap a picture. today it was the sky. driving through the flint hills on a gorgeous day just can’t be beat. i know i’ll miss that about kansas when i leave.

priddy family +1

4.24.2012

yep! the priddy’s are having another little baby! tonight we had the ‘gender reveal’ party at varsity donuts! a big group of us all met up for some blue or pink filled donuts! what a fun way to reveal to friends and family that you’re having a baby boy or girl. and a huge thanks to varsity donuts for being so cool. how sweet of them to be the first to find out the gender and surprise samantha and aaron!

willa loves donuts!

its a boy!! for some reason this surprised me big time! i thought for sure they would have another baby girl, but who can really tell when its just a guess??

and there’s the whole gang! thank you sam and aaron for inviting me and sharing this wonderful news!

first feature!

4.23.2012

today feels like a big deal to me . . .

i had my first featured blog post over on pinegate road today! kelsey and i met in an alt summit class that we took a few weeks ago, (if you haven’t taken a class through alt summit yet, i highly encourage it! i’m taking my second class tonight! great information and interesting class topics!) and we instantly bonded over our love for blogging. i have a lot of friends that i only know through their blogs, and i really love that! i’m meeting people who share a passion with me, and its quite refreshing to take that common interest and turn it into a friendship.

anywho, i’m extremely thrilled to be featured on her beautiful blog for the first time, and so thankful that she had me! another fresh start to a great friendship i presume . . . thank you kelsey!

check out the interview and the whole post right here!

janne peters

4.23.2012

janne peters is a photographer that i’ve recently discovered & can’t get enough of. here are some photographs of hedwig bollhagen, which appears to me to be some sort of ceramic art production studio (??) i might need a translator on that one  . . .

either way, these photographs by janne peters are what i’m looking at right now and loving.
